Fashion is a huge word. Kuwait fashion is a huge-er word. Fashion is commonly known to be a matter of personal taste; it is connected to beauty as a matter of fact. That’s why I don’t get a program like ‘Fodha wla Modha’ (though the translation is lame, it literally means ‘Chaos or Trend’). I don’t think it’s something one can decide if it’s good or bad, proper or not; and even though fashion experts and specialists do exist, not anyone can determine “Fashion” from “Chaos”. Just look at the hippie who’s put as a judge in that program… Read More

There are barriers between us and the better us. Some of these barriers require a massive will to break them, and some of these barriers are really thin, yet they still stand unbreakable. When we are physically sick, we can reach the better us by going to a physician easily, but when we are psychologically sick –which is usually more dangerous– it is way too embarrassing to get better by visiting a psychologist. Thus, we remain sick. .… Read More

The beach has always been a great place for thinking, relaxing and having a nice change of air. The euphony of the rhyming sea tides on the shore is the perfect fast solution for lightening up a bad mood. And the music of the cars and crowd by the Arabian Gulf Street is the perfect solution for shooting the mood back dead again. Are our beaches useless then? Not quite useless, that’s why people resort to –well– resorts. To enjoy a nice short vacation in Kuwait, we decided to rent a chalet in Seashell beach resort. Read More

Once again we witnessed names being written in history. For the first time in Kuwait, four women fought their way in a political heated battle and won their parliamentary seats. Their names will be taught in social studies lessons in the near future when they change the current books (if they change them that is). But is this a step forward, or backward?

Nowadays, we got so busy in our lives and trying to make new relations while working on our existing relations, in the process we are actually not living it. It's exactly like watching your hand watch, you watch the motion, seconds pass by, time is slipping away without actually spending it. In a step to break that idea, people invented fairs. It is a move to observe the human life first hand, see different people, find things about them, see what they can do and create and most importantly interact with our fellow humans. Read More

Ever since I started writing these articles, and the readers' comments were mainly consisting of "LOLs" and "Haha". Today, I have a strong feeling that this will change. Because I will be breaking the principal of: We'll laugh at everything sarcastic you say, as long as it's not about us. My senses are predicting that the Everyone-Laughed-Ever-After feeling that comes after reading these articles will be replaced with fierce bloody wars (Probably against me). The emails I get from readers about "I loved what you said." Or "I love your work." will be… Read More

Finally, my name was called. After waiting for two hours and twelve minutes, it's finally my turn. The girl who has just called my name had been doing paper work ever since I came here. Person after person, she was trying to finish all their papers. The worker next to her has been talking (read: laughing) on the phone the whole time. I wonder if there was a person on the other side of the phone. I can't accept the fact that there is someone who could actually endure her laughter for two whole hours (other than me, of course). She's the only person… Read More

A while ago, I was roaming around Facebook on my free time reading comments on my favorite authors' pages. One of the comments belonged to a Canadian woman living in Kuwait. She was describing Kuwait in her profile saying, "I hate living in this Gucci society."
What the woman said there hurts, but we have to admit that fact. … Read More

Once every year, the red curse falls on us. Everything around us becomes red. Red flowers, red shops, red rooms, red chocolate, and even red teddy bears. Don't ask me. Everything turns red. Just like Hell. Except that Hell is a bit more durable compared to February 14th if you are in a relationship. But it is way a lot worse if you are -God forbid- single. February… Read More
