It wasn’t long ago since we’ve been embraced by the comfort and care of our mothers’ womb. What a sweet world it was, a world of serenity and silence. A silence broken with our first cry that echoed through the gates of the hospital to sound on the ears of the world and announce the arrival of a new life. Our cry didn’t break our silence only, but also the silence of those who await us. Those who are dying to hear the word “Father” or “Mother” for the first time to come out of our lips. The people wishing to hear our first words. This is in fact, not just… Read More
Don’t you hate this feeling in the stomach? We have came across much worse fears in life, yet this fear seems to be the most awkward; when the heart is still beating fast waiting to hear “Flip your papers. You can now begin answering the questions.” -- It is the fear of the white paper..No matter how hard you study, as soon as… Read More
Fashion is a huge word. Kuwait fashion is a huge-er word. Fashion is commonly known to be a matter of personal taste; it is connected to beauty as a matter of fact. That’s why I don’t get a program like ‘Fodha wla Modha’ (though the translation is lame, it literally means ‘Chaos or Trend’). I don’t think it’s something one can decide if it’s good or bad, proper or not; and even though fashion experts and specialists do exist, not anyone can determine “Fashion” from “Chaos”. Just look at the hippie who’s put as a judge in that program… Read More
Blinking as the sun crawls up the sky and its rays climb his bed. He lifted his upper half supporting his self with a hand on his pillow and the other removing what’s left of slumber from his face. Opening his mouth and the bats of stench came out screeching from his mouth so he followed them to the bathroom where he cleaned up and came out dragging a foot behind the other to enjoy the best time of his day. He faces the window so close that his breath is fogging the glass. Admiring the magnificent nature out of his window he looks at the cars driving by his hotel, following… Read More

If there is something my mother likes, it is that one of her sons surprise her with preparing a breakfast in the early morning before she wakes up. She loves traditional Kuwaiti breakfast: Tea, warm milk, fresh Labnah, French cheese, scrambled eggs (the only dish I can cook), olives, Falafel, Fool, Sambousa and hot Iranian bread. Ironically, the bread has nothing to do with its name, go around all of Iran and I’ll give you 10000 Tumans if you find any. Probably named Iranian bread because of the bakers being Iranian. To all the bakers who baked us that… Read More
Once upon a time there was a princess. She was fair like a spring day on which the soft breezes usually caress her silky threads of hair while the sun shines shyly in the presence of her divine glow and charm that lures the roses to blossom in her direction. A fantasy of kings and princes she was, and none has been blessed with her approval until her eyes met the eyes of a poor young man strolling the market for hunting chances for a better tomorrow. He never knew that he can find a jewel so rare that no one had laid a touch on. At this very moment the story of the sun… Read More
